Widely recognized for excellence in teaching and research, faculty members of Georgia Tech College of Management continue to raise the business school's profile through their professional activities and honors. During spring 2009:

  • Regents' marketing professor Naresh Malhotra recently won the 2009 AMS Harold Berkman Service Award from the Academy of Marketing Science. Maholtra has served the AMS in many capacities, including track chair, proceedings editor, conference chair, vice president of programs, president, chair of the board of governors, and chair of the AMS Foundation. Malhotra is retiring from the College this spring.
  • Marketing professor Ajay Kohli won the Vijay Mahajan Award from the American Marketing Association. Established in 2000, this prestigious honor recognizes a marketing educator who has made sustained contributions to marketing strategy literature for at least 10 years. Kohli will receive the honor at the AMA Marketing Educator's Summer Conference.

  • Three information technology management professors were appointed to key editorships in the Information Systems Department of the journal Management Science. Professor Sandra Slaughter is departmental editor, and associate professors Chris Forman and D.J. Wu are associate editors.
  • Georgia Tech College of Management researchers were well represented in recent studies of the "Most Prolific Authors" in key finance and accounting literature (26 leading journals in each field) in the last 50 years. Of the 963 most prolific finance authors, Georgia Tech's finance faculty was represented by Vikram Nanda (221st), Cheol Eun (284th), Ajay Khorana (380th), and Narayanan Jayaraman (738th). Of the 620 most prolific accounting authors, Georgia Tech's accounting faculty was represented by Bryan Church (209th), Eugene Comiskey (270th), and Arnold Schneider (351st).
  • Regents' operations management professor Cheryl Gaimon was recently named a fellow of the Production and Operations Management Society, a very prestigious and selective honor.
  • Marketing assistant professor Nicholas Lurie recently won one of only 11 awards granted by Google and WPP Marketing Research for the study of how online media influences consumer behavior, attitudes, and decision making. He received $55,000.
  • Stuart Graham, assistant professor of strategic management, was a panelist on the Federal Trade Commission’s Hearing on the Evolving IP Marketplace. Graham discussed recent scholarship in patent markets.
  • Information technology associate professor Han Zhang received the Outstanding Research Mentor Award from Georgia Tech's Honors Committee. He has worked with numerous Presidential Undergraduate Research Awards students.
  • Operations management assistant professor Ravi Subramanian won an honorable mention in the Page Prize competition for Environmental Sustainability Curriculum. He received the recognition for his PhD seminar course, "Environmental Considerations in Managerial Decision-making."
  • Winners of the College of Management’s inaugural Faculty Excellence Awards went to: strategic management associate professor Frank Rothaermel (Linda and Lloyd L. Byars Award for Faculty Research Excellence), operations management associate professor Stelios Kavadias (Brady Family Award for Faculty Research Excellence), organizational behavior professor Christina Shalley (Brady Family Award for Faculty Teaching Excellence), and operations management assistant professor Ravi Subramanian (James F. Frazier Jr. Award for Teaching Excellence).
